Sophia Wushanley is a PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Michigan. She started pursuing research in ethics and political philosophy during her bachelor’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania and later focused on data ethics for her master’s thesis at the Sorbonne. Before her doctoral studies, Sophia was a software engineer in Paris tech startups for four years. Sophia’s research focuses on data ethics and the philosophical questions presented by big data technologies. Her work examines the ethical implications of informational asymmetry, AI and algorithmic decision-making in business and organizational ethics, and algorithmic justice.
